Wind measurement

The MAINGRID Group of companies is engaged in maintain a wind measuring campaign and installing wind measuring masts (hereinafter referred to as the mast).

What is wind measurement?

Wind measurement is the process of measuring wind characteristics (direction, speed, turbulence, etc.) in the area under consideration. The main task of wind monitoring is to determine the wind potential, to further determine the generation of electricity received from wind turbines.

How is the wind measuring campaign maintain?

As part of the wind measuring campaign, a mast with a height of 100 to 120 meters is installed, on which meteorological sensors are installed that measure wind speed (anemometers), wind direction (weather vane), temperature, humidity, pressure. Measurements are collected for 12 months or more.

Result

The collected data is necessary for the analysis and preparation of the final report by accredited organizations. This report contains information about the region under consideration and the potential for electricity generation, in order to further attract investors to the implementation of the wind farm.
